Let's explore the myriad activities offered in our session's activity corner!

Best Out of Waste:

Haribhai V. Desai Junior College believes in fostering an ethical relationship between human beings and the natural environment, instilling ethical environmental values in our students, and conserving the environment. To achieve this goal, we have been implementing a sustainable "Best out of Waste" initiative since the academic year 2015-2016. Each year, our students showcase their talent by creating inspiring projects and items using waste materials such as newspapers, bottles, empty cans, ice-cream sticks, and CD-ROMs. This initiative not only encourages creativity but also raises awareness among students about the proper use of resources and the importance of recycling. The motto of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Repair" is reiterated each year. In addition to the exhibition, we organize a cultural program where students showcase colorful performances such as folk dances, dramas, Powadas, and singing concerts. This program provides a platform for students to express their talents and skills. It also includes the distribution of annual awards in academics, sports, and other co-curricular activities, including the "Best out of Waste" trophies and awards for the best cultural performances. By participating in these activities, students gain confidence and are encouraged to excel in academics and extracurricular activities. To further reinforce our commitment to environmental protection, every student, staff member, and guest of our Junior College takes an "Environmental Oath" pledging to avoid the use of plastic and to protect the environment by following green practices. Through initiatives like these, our college aims to create a nurturing and environmentally friendly society.

Science Exhibition:

Science plays a pivotal role in advancing human civilization, and it is essential to cultivate students' interest in science and technology. One effective way to achieve this is by organizing a Science Exhibition. This exhibition serves as a platform for students to showcase their scientific knowledge and innovative ideas through static and working models, projects, and presentations. By participating in the exhibition, students not only expand their scientific knowledge but also develop essential skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, and problem-solving. The objective of the Science Exhibition is to instill a scientific attitude and research- mindedness in students, fostering analytical and critical thinking abilities. Each year, our students present a wide range of innovative projects, such as water dispenser models, windmill workings, soil water holding capacity models, and robots, showcasing their imagination and creativity. This competition encourages students to explore and implement new ideas, contributing to the advancement of science and technology.

Poster Competition:

The Poster Making Competition for Junior College students is organized annually to unleash their creative expression and raise awareness about pressing issues. The competition aims not only to showcase students' artistic skills but also to stimulate their critical thinking and sensitize them to global issues. Participants create posters on themes such as environmental conservation, girl child empowerment, space exploration, and plastic pollution, conveying powerful messages through their artwork. Eminent judges evaluate the competition based on criteria such as relevance to the theme, originality, impact of the message, creativity, and overall presentation. Competitions like these enhance students' observational skills, critical thinking abilities, and awareness of global issues, empowering them to become responsible citizens and agents of positive change in society.
