The **Department of Chemistry** was established in **1993**. It offers **M.Sc. degrees** in both **Analytical Chemistry** and **Organic Chemistry**, with a capacity of **24 students** in each subject. The department has a long history of providing students and research scholars with in-depth training in research, along with top-notch training in cutting-edge fields of chemical science.

Students pursuing these courses develop a deep understanding of various aspects of chemistry, which creates better opportunities in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

The department receives grants from **Savitribai Phule Pune University (BCUD & ASPIRE)** and the **University Grants Commission (UGC)** for major and minor research projects. It has highly qualified staff and a **PhD research center**, engaging all graduate and postgraduate students in research activities across analytical, materials, nanotechnology, and organic chemistry.

Students conduct research work for master’s projects, write review articles, and present seminars/webinars online/offline on recent chemistry topics at national and international conferences. As per the **New Education Policy (NEP)-2020**, the department offers an **SPPU-approved value-added instrumentation course of 04 Credits**, which is mandatory in the On-Job Training (OJT) course.

Every year, campus interviews are conducted in the department for both analytical and organic chemistry students by various industries like **Chem-tech., Sahyadri, Orah Nutrichem, Knowchem Labs**, and **VSG hallmarking.**
