A Grand Celebration of Talent and Cultural Fusion

The much-anticipated Desai Karandak 2K25, an intercollegiate technical and non-technical competition, concluded successfully at Haribhai V. Desai College, witnessing an overwhelming participation of 1051 students from 32 senior and junior colleges across Pune. Organized by the Department of Computer Studies and Management.

This three-day extravaganza (Jan 29-31) provided a dynamic platform for students to showcase their creativity, technical expertise, and cultural talents. Themed “Cultural Fusion – Maharashtra and Gujarat”, the event featured 12 competitions, including C Champions, Web Guru, Debate, Street Play, BGMI, and Box Cricket, along with a vibrant poster competition on Chemistry in Daily Life.

The grand inauguration was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Shri Rajeshbhai Shah (Chairman, PGKM), Dr. Ravindra Vaidya (Principal, MES Senior College Pune), and Dr. Rajendra Gurao. The chief guest, Dr. Ravindra Vaidya, delivered an inspiring keynote address, emphasizing the significance of participation in education and cultural activities.

The three-day competition concluded with a spectacular prize distribution ceremony, where S.P. College, Pune, bagged the prestigious Champion’s Trophy. Trophies, certificates, and cash prizes were awarded by notable guests, including actress Shraddha Bhagat, Actor-director Ajit Patil, and Hon. Trustee Shri Anujbhai Gandhi.

The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with participants lauding the well-organized competitions, fair judging, and warm hospitality. Introducing new formats like Box Cricket and BGMI added to the excitement, making this edition of Desai Karandak the most successful yet.

The competition was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Shailaja Gujarathi and Ms. Monica Dhotre, with strong support from the college management and faculty. Desai Karandak continues to set new benchmarks with its growing stature, promising an even grander edition in 2026!

Educational Trip to Kinjal and Mahabaleshwar

The Department of Botany and Department of Physics of Haribhai V. Desai College organized an educational trip to Vighnaharta Energy Park (Kinjal, Bhor) and Gurheghar Biodiversity Park (Mahabaleshwar), providing 60 First-Year B.Sc. students with hands-on learning experiences in biodiversity and energy sciences.

At Vighnaharta Energy Park, students explored energy-related exhibits, gaining insights into sustainable energy solutions. The visit to Gurheghar Biodiversity Park introduced students to diverse plant species, including algae, fungi, lichens, bryophytes, pteridophytes, gymnosperms, and angiosperms, offering a deeper understanding of their ecological significance. Faculty experts Dr. K.K. Bagdane, Mr. Shelar, Dr. Shashikant Gunjal, Dr. A.Z. Sheikh, and Dr. Vikas Mulik, along with non-teaching staff, guided students throughout the trip.

The trip fostered interdisciplinary collaboration between Botany and Physics, enriching student perspectives on the connections between biodiversity and energy. Students appreciated the real-world exposure, with many expressing newfound enthusiasm for environmental conservation and scientific research.

ARAI Hills Adventure on Yuva Din 🚴‍♂️🏞️

In a remarkable blend of fitness, adventure, and environmental awareness, the Department of Geography and Sports at H.V. Desai College organized an exhilarating Cycling and Trekking Expedition to ARAI Hills in celebration of Yuva Din.

The journey kicked off at 8:00 AM, as 85 students and 9 faculty members cycled from the college to the foothills of ARAI before setting off on a thrilling trek through the scenic trails. Participants embraced the challenge, enjoying breathtaking views and the serenity of nature. A well-deserved refreshing breakfast was arranged before the return journey, adding to the experience. This adventure, coordinated by Prof. Bhusali Musale, fostered endurance, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for nature, making it a memorable and successful event that truly embodied the spirit of youth and exploration. 🚴🏔️🌿

Seminar on "Job Roles in IT" Empowers Students

The Department of Computer Studies at Haribhai V. Desai College organized an insightful seminar on "Job Roles in IT" at Shantaben Auditorium, featuring industry experts Mrs. Archana Nigade (CEO, Orange iTech) and Mr. Avadhoot Bhutkar (Team Leader, Infosys).

With an enthusiastic audience of 174 students, the seminar provided a deep dive into diverse IT career paths, essential skills, job responsibilities, and emerging industry trends. The interactive Q&A session allowed students to seek guidance on industry expectations, career growth, and skill development, making it a valuable platform for career planning and networking.

Students praised the session for its practical insights and industry relevance, reinforcing their career aspirations and industry readiness. The event proved to be a stepping stone for future IT professionals, inspiring them to navigate the dynamic tech landscape with confidence. 🚀💻

A Heartwarming Visit to Jeevandhara Vidyalaya

The Department of Computer Studies, Haribhai V. Desai College, took a noble step towards inclusivity and social responsibility by organizing a heartfelt visit to Jeevandhara Vidyalaya, a school for specially abled students. Led by coordinators Ms. Deepali Dalvi and Ms. Shubhada Litke.

18 students actively engaged with the children, fostering an atmosphere of love, empathy, and joy. The visit was enriched by interactive activities, song performances, and creative sessions, making it a memorable experience for both groups.

As a token of support, the team donated essential stationery items, a blackboard, a notice board, and distributed chocolates and gifts, bringing smiles to the young learners. The presence of Principal Dr. Rajendra Gurao added immense value, as he commended the school's efforts and encouraged students to embrace the spirit of learning and collaboration.

Students were deeply moved by the resilience and positivity of the Jeevandhara Vidyalaya children. As Sahityika Choudhori (T.Y. BCS) expressed, "From the bottom of my heart, I was really happy to bring smiles to their faces."This visit was a powerful reminder of the impact of kindness and inclusivity, inspiring students to support similar initiatives in the future. 🌟✨

'हेरिटेज वॉक' मालिका!

इतिहास विभाग, वर्शिप अर्थ फाउंडेशन आणि क्लब हेरिटेज यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने हेरिटेज वॉक कार्यक्रमाचे आयोजन करण्यात आले. ४ जानेवारी ते २८ जानेवारी २०२५ दरम्यान विविध ऐतिहासिक स्थळांवर विशेष सत्रे घेण्यात आली. महात्मा फुले वाडा (४ जानेवारी) – गणेश राऊत यांनी इतिहास विशद केला. पुणे नगर वाचन मंदिर (११ जानेवारी) – श्री. मधुमिलिंद मेहंदळे व श्री. प्रसाद जोशी यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली कार्यक्रम झाला.

मराठा कालीन व शिवछत्रपतींचे चलन (१९ जानेवारी) – प्रा. डॉ. पद्माकर प्रभुणे यांनी माहितीपूर्ण व्याख्यान दिले. लाला लजपतराय जयंती (२८ जानेवारी) – श्री. पांडुरंग बलकवडे व श्री. सुधीर कुमार अग्रवाल उपस्थित होते. या उपक्रमाचा उद्देश विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये ऐतिहासिक जागरूकता निर्माण करणे व सर्वसामान्य नागरिकांमध्ये ऐतिहासिक साक्षरता वाढवणे हा आहे. दैनिक महाराष्ट्र टाइम्स कार्यक्रमाचा मीडिया पार्टनर असून, ५० ते १०० नागरिकांचा उत्स्फूर्त सहभाग लाभला.
