The Department of Chemistry was established in **1993**. It offers M.Sc. degrees in both Analytical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, each with a capacity of 24 students. The department has a strong tradition of providing students and research scholars with in-depth training in research and cutting-edge fields of chemical science.

These courses aim to develop a deep understanding of various aspects of chemistry, creating better opportunities in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

The department receives grants from Savitribai Phule Pune University (BCUD & ASPIRE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) for major/minor research projects. It boasts a highly qualified staff and a Ph.D. research center, engaging graduate and postgraduate students in research activities in analytical, materials, nanotechnology, and organic chemistry.

Students conduct research for their master's projects, write review articles, and present seminars/webinars on recent chemistry topics at national and international conferences. In line with the New Education Policy (NEP)-2020, the department offers a SPPU-approved value-added instrumentation course of 04 Credits, which is mandatory in the On-Job Training (OJT) course.

Campus interviews are organized annually for both analytical and organic chemistry students with participation from various industries such as Chem-tech., Sahyadri, Orah Nutrichem, Knowchem Labs, and VSG hallmarking.
